Congrats all Seahorses!

We finished second behind West Mobile. We were seeded to finish third, but we had a great turnout and had a million best times

The senior boys - Will Anderson, Mitch Fisher, Sam Beemster, and Kyle Simpson - broke the 200 Free Relay time on Saturday.

We have a fun day from 9-11 a.m. at the pool Monday morning. Swimmers can come at any time.

The banquet begins at 6:00 PM Monday at the Spanish Fort Middle School cafeteria. The event will include an awards presentation where each swimmer will receive a trophy and specific "specialty" awards will be given. There will also be a video wrapping up the season. Swimmers will receive their City Meet and Junior Champ awards as well.

Dinner will be catered and a DJ will "pump up the jam."

See you there!

Coach Ross

I can't believe the season is already coming to a close! It has been wonderful so far with two more meets to go before Jr Champs and City Meet! Go Seahorses!!

The end of the year banquet is scheduled this year for Monday, July 25 at 6:00 PM at the Spanish Fort Middle School cafeteria. Please mark your calendars. The event will include an awards presentation where each swimmer will receive a trophy and specific "specialty" awards will be given. There will also be a video wrapping up the season. The kids love to try to find themselves on the screen! We will have dinner (specifics not ironed out yet) as well as a d.j. and dancing! Please plan to attend this wonderful event. Each swimmer deserves to be recognized for all of the hard work they have put in this summer! A big thank you to all of the parents who have also been dedicated to this program! See you there!

Also, please be sure to sign up for Jr Champs and City Meet under the tent! There is a list for Jr Champs of the events that your swimmers have qualified for. The coaches will enter your child in specific events tailored to their abilities for City Meet (5 events max). Each of these meets will be $10 per swimmer (not dependent on the number of events). You must be registered by Thursday in order to swim at City Meet! This is a meet that you do not want to miss!!

City Meet ads can be ordered as well. The costs are as follows:

  • full page - $100
  • half page - $50
  • quarter page - $25
  • 1/8 page - $12.50

Make checks payable to MCAL (for city meet ads only) . Please bring a printed copy and $ to practice by Monday, July18.

Our team receives 50 percent of the profit and ads help keep the cost of Heat Sheets as low as possible.

Thanks again for supporting these awesome swimmers!

Jr. Champs, July 16, will be at the Chandler YMCA in Mobile. This meet is encouraged for recreational or beginner swimmers. If swimmers are too fast in certain events, they will not qualify for them. We are still awaiting the file telling us the qualifying times. We will begin registration for JR champs when the file arrives this week. Warm-ups are in three sessions, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 9:30. We will likely warm-up at about 9 -- I will let you know as soon as they send the info.

Junior Champs is not a substitute for City Meet. Jr Champs can help encourage a child. City Meet is encouraged for all swimmers that can swim a lap independently.

City Meet registration will begin as soon as that info arrives as well, which is expected later next week. The City Meet for Tuesday, July 19th (All 6 & under events and 8 & under short course events) is at West Mobile and the events on July 22 (ages 9-18) and July 23rd (ages 9-18 continued and 7-8 year old IM and 50 free) are at Oakwood.

June 23th, 2011

June 28: Tuesday's meet is against Oakwood at home. Please plan to be at the pool at 4 p.m. for the team picture. (individual pics will be taken during regularly scheduled practice times Tuesday. The meet warm-up remains 4:30, 5:30 start). The meet will include the following events:

  • Ages 6 & under: 25 Free, 25 Back
  • Ages 7-8: Long Distance events - 50 Free, 100 IM
  • Ages 9-18: Long Distance events - 100 Free, 100 IM

These distance events are included in the Junior Champs and City Meet - therefore getting times in these events is very important.

The 100 IM (individual medley) = 25 fly, 25 back, 25 breast, 25 free Some beginning swimmers may not be entered in this event -- this will be decided on a case-by-case basis. We will not have relays during this meet.

The last day to sign-in/sign-out for this meet is by noon Monday, June 27. Swimmers or parents will never be able to sign-in swimmers the day of a dual meet, junior champ, or city meet.

Long distance meets are usually a little shorter than regular dual meets with four events.

Please make sure you keep the City Meet open on your schedules. The 6 & unders and 8 & unders will swim July 19th. The Long Distance events for the 7 & 8 year olds was recently decided by the league board to be on Saturday, July 23. Ages 9-18 will swim on July 22 and 23. The City Meet will begin in the morning for all dates mentioned. We will begin registration for city meet soon.

Tubing trip

Friday, July 8. No Practice - Tubing down the Coldwater River in Milton, Fl. COACHES AND BOARD MEMBERS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPERVISING OR TRANSPORTING THE CHILDREN DURING THIS TRIP. That would be impossible. This will be a great adventure for the swimmers and families. We plan to stop along the river and eat together at one of the banks along the 4-mile tubing trip. We took the trip in 2009 and it was a blast.

All money needs to be turned in by noon Wednesday July 6 (in order for you to receive the discount rate and for us to reserve our spot).

Prices: Tube (fits one individual): $15

Cooler tube: $9 (bring your cooler)

Canoe: $50 (most people will be tubing, but this is an option. Instead of purchasing cooler tubes separately, some members may want to pitch in for a canoe).

We prefer you to pay by check to LFST, but cash will be accepted. All $ must be turned in under the tent by noon Wednesday July 6.

If you would like to leave with the group, we will meet at the pool parking lot at 7 a.m. and leave at 7:15. They offer a $3 discount per person if we pay as one group.

June 20th, 2011

Coach Ross is still having a hard time with the swimmer sign in/sign outs, so it is very important that you provide this information within the time frame requested.

The staff spends an enourmous amount of time keying in data before and after every meet so ensuring that information such as your child's name, age, gender is accurate will be a great help.

Everyone had a great time at the Jackson meet and Coach Ross should receive results soon. Pool Directions page has been updated with link to the West Mobile pool.

Good Luck Lake Forest!

June 8th, 2011

The FAQ and Coach Tips pages have been updated with new information, but much more is coming. Coach Ross sent out an email concerning last nights swim meet which turned out great. We will try to update this site with the same information, but if you are not on Ross' email list and would like to be please send an email to the address listed on the contact page.

We have our first away meet tomorrow evening at Gulf Shores so it is very important that everyone sign their child up either using the sign up sheets or via email. Directions to the pool are on the Pool Directions page. It is going to be another hot day so try to bring your own shade and folding chairs to setup as premium space is limited. Having a small cooler with some cold water is also recommended as well as cash for heat sheets and snacks.

Good Luck Lake Forest!

June 7th, 2011

The Lake Forest swim team website has been redesigned and will be updated more frequently. Just a reminder that we have our first swim meet this Tuesday evening which will be an intrasquad event.

The meet will take place at the same Lake Forest practice pool with warm-ups beginning at 4:30. If you have not signed up your swimmer please sign them up at practice tomorrow or email the address found on the contact page.
